Welcome

The Simcoe Major Curling League opens its 46th curling season at The Stroud Curling Club in Innisfil Ontario.

The league for the 2024 - 2025 season has a roster of 12 teams and we curl Wednesday nights with one draw beginning at 7:15 pm. There are a number of new players joining the league enticed by the convenient location, the convenient time, but most of all because of the competitive curling spirit the Simcoe Major Curling League and the Stroud Curling Club bring to the sport of curling.

The Simcoe Major Curling League is a competitive curling league which includes some of the top teams from Innisfil and the surrounding area including Barrie, Alliston, Bradford, Cookstown, Orillia and as far away as Toronto.

The league has been running for over forty-six years and has featured many world, national, and provincial champions. World champions Ed Werenich, Russ and Glen Howard, Pat Perroud and Brent Laing have all been members of the league. Currently playing in our league are Cory and Heather Heggestad, winners of the 2013 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship and Susan Froud, winner of the women's 2024 Canadian and World Senior Curling Championships.

The Simcoe Major Curling League provides the competitive curler with a venue where they can hone their skills as they prepare for provincial competitions and cash spiels endorsed by the Ontario Curling Tour. A cash award of $100.00 is earned by each team for a round robin win, so the competition level each week is always very high.

We have mens, mixed, and ladies teams made up of highly skilled individuals who not only play in our league but compete in spiels across the country. This year we have 12 teams that are looking for the high level of competition we offer. The interest shown by these curlers is a testament to the quality of the league and the competitors it attracts.

Lots of good information can be found on our site, so look around and check out the schedules and standings for the league. We update the standings for each team every week so you can follow your favourite team throughout the season.

And, for those of you who would like a behind the scenes look at our league we have included a page with the league's Rules and Guidelines.

The Simcoe Major Curling League also hosts a Golf Tournament which is held in late summer each year. We would love to have you join us for a fun day of golf with many of the players from the major leagues in our area. Keep watching for the tournament flyer which we will post here as soon as details are finalized for 2025.
